Winter can be a season of stillness for our country’s farmers and ranchers. But it is also a time to plan and prepare for the spring ahead.

Agricultural Buildings Are A Specialty

In 2022, Lucas Metal Works will be celebrating its 54 years in business, and we’ve worked side-by-side with farmers and ranchers across the country. We specialize in raising barns and other outbuildings for our agricultural clients. We’ve manufactured hundreds of custom farm buildings to store tractors and other machinery or crops and still more ranch facilities for housing livestock or horses.

Effective and efficient buildings are critical to a farm’s success. In an article looking back at the history of farming, AgUpdate.com had this to say:

“Farm buildings are the farmer’s factory,” wrote agricultural engineer E.A. Fowler in 1913. Thirty years later, one of Fowler’s colleagues wrote, “Adequate buildings are as essential in the efficient production of farm products as up-to-date equipment is in the factory for producing manufactured goods.”

Economist Martin Primack said in 1965, “The construction and improvement of farm buildings in the United States during the latter half of the 19th century was a task of farm-capital formation exceeded only by the effort to clear the land itself.”

The building industry has continued to accelerate in its efficiency and effectiveness. At the same time, Lucas Metal Works has grown from a small operation to servicing ranches and farms across the country. What’s best about our buildings is their durability and reliability. We use only steel materials and our buildings are made to be resilient in any weather. Anything valuable you store inside will be protected from the elements. The construction of buildings like these has been happening for decades at Lucas. From our home state of Oklahoma we have gained valued customers throughout the U.S. Because of our centralized location, it is easy for us to bring materials and plans to you, wherever you are.
